Dear TV readers

I originally wanted to buy a Ford Everest WHITE colour external with BEIGE interior.

I chose WHITE because

1.  It is statistically safer in accidents

2.  Easier to Clean

3.  May result in less heat absorption in the car from the sun

I chose BEIGE because it is

1.   A cool (temperature) colour

2.  It adds a sense of space to the car

3.  It is refined

The 2017 Ford Everest have changed the available colour combinations!

You can no longer choose WHITE and BEIGE

The new options are DARK colour Exteriors with Black seats  OR Vice versa

I really wanted the beige seats as I don't fancy climbing into hot sticky black seats BUT

while I like BLACK exteriors they suffer from

1. Being statistically more dangerous

2.  Look dirtier more easily

3.  May heat up the car from the sun

I think that it is a ill-considered marketing strategy from Ford, though I understood why they did it

The Local Ford dealer says he can change the seats but I am not sure about that.  I don't want to buy a new car and have some squeeky changed seats in it.

I know that TV readers have great expereince in these matters and I would appreciate comments.

Would also appreciate it if people could refrain from simply "Ford bashing" (e.g "Typical <deleted> Ford eff up" etc)  simply because it does not offer much of a solution.

Thanks

Geoff

Black ........ may heat up the car from the sun

No "may" about. The coolest colour to get is white. White exterior and white interior, though the latter is highly impractical as it will pick up dirt like no ones business. A white towel/cover over the seat might help.

That said, the sun is so strong here that regardless of colour it will get very hot inside unless it is in the shade. I used to have exactly the same problem back in Europe.

I agree with your interior colour choice, to me these dark colours seem depressing and claustrophobic...

Don't think it much matters about the outside paint colour, what ever it is the ride will get hot inside....

Car not available in color you want? Just put one of those stickers on back explaining to the driver tailgating behind the "real" color of the car. You know it makes sense.

I had beige seats and boy did I regret it. It showed the dirt and it picked up my clothes colours if I sweated.

Leather...?

I have 9 year old beige seats, not leather, no problems at all, but it is a ..........

It is pseudo leather common to lovely German vehicles. I have a feeling that you do not sweat because you are so  awesomely cool. Did you perhaps use  that 3M protective spray when you purchased your vehicle? I didn't. I have tried to clean  the  upholstery with armor all,  mild soap and water, some glop I bought that was advertised as a magical cleaner (only in the  minds of gullible noddies like myself)

Did have a couple of stains left by others on my seats....

Anyhooo, Tesco's sold a well known brand STP (USA) upholstery cleaner, did a first class job...

Strangely my cloth seats are never hot, so I never sweat on journey's or getting into the ride when the interior is hot...

In Arizona we know real heat eg. four months in a row of 100+F temps. The wast majority of cars and trucks (many pickups) are white, black is a sign of newbie there. Those bead type seat covers are great from comfort and a cool back.

I've noticed that Ferangs here with Black Vehicles are arrogant or simple ,folks with light ones seem more cheerful types. Those sweaty Chaps, just get the AC fixed and enjoy leather or rag chairs.

Thai's like black vehicles because they say it 'looks strong'.   Bullshit in my opinion but hey; if they want to burn up inside their tin can then so be it.    I've told many of them that light colours reflect heat and dark colours absorb heat, so the lighter the colour the better in a Tropical climate.   They just look puzzled or vague !
