Urgent - Schengen Visa - Thai Wife Half Child

Featured Replies

Hello

My next door neighbor British guy and Thai wife have a son 5 months old they have applied for his British passport last week but unfortunately the fathers mother has just passed away in Germany as the babies Uk passport will take at least 5-6 weeks can they apply for a Schengen C Visa for the baby and Thai mother ?

They will be ringing the German embassy tomorrow mornings as it's closed now, Any help would be great.

Is there is no accelerated procedure for UK nationals (the child) to get the passport sooner due to an emergency?

Just as UK national can get a UK visa they should be able to get a Schengen visa evwn though they are not supposee to.

The Thai wife and the child, being direct family members of an EU national should be able to get a free Schengen visa via an accelareted procedure. Basically all that is requires is evidence of family relation to the EU (UK) national and that they will join or travel with the UK national in Germany. Should be no need for medical travel insurance, salary slips or other such things, skipping all questions marked with an * on the application form. I'd indeed contact the embassy and explain the emergency and situation, should only take a few days at the most to get the visa if the Germans can be convinced of the emergency. General info of the accelerated and regular Schengen visa can be found in the sticky "Schengen visa applying from Thailand" topic.
