I understand that the latest MacBooks do not accept a SD card any more.

I download to my old MacBook a couple of time a week from my SD card.

I was considering a new MacBook but now I wonder how do I download my photos ?

I use 2 Compact cameras neither has provision for a lead to download.

Is there an adaptor ? I have not seen one yet.

Tesco, Big C,  etc, sell adapter with several sized slots... Made by Anitech....  around 300 baht if I remember. (look in the area they sell computer bits and bobs  / or phone stuff...)  You could try  Big Camera store too.

Does the camera charging cable not double up as the computer connection? The cameras that we use at work operate like this and also have the removable SD card option.

Usually the plug end of the charger is a removable USB connection which you insert into your laptop.

Thanks tp all.

The SD cards plug into both my iMac and my MacBook Pro.

One camera is a Panasonic with Leica lens long focal length other is Olympus with very wide angle.

There is no means other than downloading to the SD reader slot in my Macs. Never been a problem.

I am looking to get a new MacBook Pro so thanks for info on Tesco, Big C.

Both cameras charge by removing Battery to an external charger.

How old is your MB pro?

Mine is early 2011 but I replaced the old HD with a new 500gb SSD myself and it is like a new machine. Really quick and I won't be needing to upgrade anytime soon. But, it depends what you need it for I suppose and if it's a later model that might not be possible to upgrade.

I had the Hard drive replaced by a SSD at Magic 1st floor Pantip Plaza, Chiang Mai.

As you say like a new machine.

I have never been happy with my Macbook Pro since I had the 'Speakers' replaced at the Mac center, 4 weeks time frame and it's never felt right since.

Hunting on the net I find this

More pricey that what has been suggested from Big C or Tesco but now I know that something is available if the cheap models are not practical.

Well that's a lot of money, but if you have a cheapo camera, hardly worth the outlay... Even with my expensive cameras the one I mentioned works, usually a year or two and thousands of downloads. Up to you!
