Hi, I have two questions:

1) if you look at the one2car site you can see a variety of prices. How close to the final price are they, e.g. what is the "typical" bargaining done here?

2) When you sell a car can you go to any Car registration office, or does it have to be where the car was registered when I bought it? E.g. if my car has Bangkok plates, can I do the paperwork in the Pattaya office?

Thanks,

Recently bought a Skoda Fabia V-RS from Bangkok and managed to get about 5% discount.

I suggest getting a Thai friend to call on your behalf and act as an agent. They will bargain and also get a commission (which can be passed back to you for even more discount).

The dealer can usually arrange for transfer of car on the day of purchase. In my case they had an assistant who did the whole thing and just told us where to sign etc.

Your question in regards to selling, basically you can prefill all the papers and the buyer can complete the transfer wherever they are as far as I understand. At least this is what happened in my case.

You will notice a lot of the cars for sale dont even have prices. As mentioned best to get a thai to call and ask, but don't expect any big negotiations till you sit in front of them. Sadly there is no exact margin but generally i aim to get between 3 and 7% depending on the cars value and market positioning.

12car is a website - a clearing house if you will to allow sellers from many locations showcase their products. Want the real price - want a discount - 12car has SFA to do with it. You must go talk to who is selling the car. Seller A maybe will budge, Seller B will not, Seller C ... I bought our Teana from a site advertised on 12car, and was completely happy with the deal I made.
