THE three rifles used by insurgents to shoot at a policeman in Narathiwat’s Sungai Kolok district on Friday night were stolen from defence volunteers during a fatal attack in late September, police said yesterday.

The suspected insurgents also detonated a bomb at the scene of the shooting in an attempt to harm officers responding to report of the shooting.

Pol Sergeant Anusorn Songsuwan, 32, of Munoh Police Station, was shot while riding a motorcycle on the Tak Bai-Sungai Kolok Road in Tambon Pasemas at around 10.30pm on Friday.

A shame really, I've heard that it's a really lovely part of the country, unfortunately I don't think I'll ever see it. Sorry to hear about the cop getting shot and all the others that have been killed or injured.
