Regularly back up my Macbook pro with time machine. Just wondering if for example I lost everything, would I be able to buy a new

Macbook and the back up would simply put things back the way it was or would I need to get original programs and reinstall

everything?

Well, when I installed a brand new SSD in my MB pro I used my time machine back up to restore it like my old HD. Everything was the same as before, took about 3 hours.

You either do this via internet recovery option or having a bootable copy of the OS on a USB. My internet was playing up at the time so I took it to the Mac guy in Tukcom Pattaya. He put a bootable copy of the OS on first and then plugged in my time machine back up drive.

I guess this is the same as putting it on a new machine.
