Marriage visa yearly extension

Featured Replies

Went to one of the well known visa agents in chiangmai today to enquire about how much for them to do my extension based on marriage , they quoted 8900 baht to do it , now this sounds excessively high to me but i did the visa myself last yr but it was an absolute nightmare (at imm at 3am to get a number , on the 3rd day of trying) is this the going rate that you have to pay or what ?

I heard the agency at the promenada is a lot cheaper

From my experience of DIY yesterday, there is no need for an agent any longer. Due to the other Imm. offices opening up around the province, they now process few applications, so only use one officer. There is probably no longer a need to queue, but to be sure, just get there by 06:30 to get a number. I was the only marriage extension in the queue and was seen first, as the 2 agency bookings hadn't arrived when called.

If all you are worried about is the queuing situation, then you could just pay somebody 500 baht to go and queue on you behalf and do the rest yourself. You would need to be there in person at 7am when the tickets are handed out.

I do believe there is a certain "luck of the draw" with regards to queuing at the airport immigration. I went in late July for a marriage extension, arrived at approx  4.45 am and ended up with ticket number 32. We were going to be turned away, but the female officer was feeling in a generous mood, so she told us to hang around for a bit so she could quickly check the paperwork to make sure there would be no potential problems later on that day.

How does an agent manage this. Its You wife giving her permission to live in her property,in my case andI have money to support her . If she doesn't agree im out of that Visa and over to retirement type where it's just my business not hers

An agent does not 'manage' this. All they do is supposedly check that your paperwork is in order, and get to book a ticket before the morning queue is processed.

Yes, whether you go arranged via an agent or not, your wife must attend. It is an extension based on marriage.....

Why would you think otherwise?

Did our extension renewal application this Monday morning and was impressed. Arrived at 6am and 4th in the line. At 6.30 am was given a ticket to return at 9am. By this time there were 5 people in the queue. At 10am was dealt with and out the door by 10.35.

Was told by the interviewing officer that on the 1st Dec. 2016 the building is being demolished and in its place a 4 storey building will be erected. Promenada will now deal with this category of extension along with "others" including monks, volunteers and business. In addition to the usual supporting documentation we had to show 2 copies of the Receipt of Notification given once your other half has completed the TM30.and paid the 1600 baht fine.

Also sign all photocopies with blue ink (notblack).

Call Immigration DELETED to double check on the demolition dates and new venue for processing of "Marriage'categories.
