Hello pal,

This is the first time I am working abroad and it's only

the second week that I feel home sick.

I can't concentrate on my job and keep thinking.

I am working alone for at least the next few weeks.

Can someone advise me what to do? :o

It is his first time away from mom. That is very hard when you are only 45 years old.

RE-focus.

Your attention is elsewhere and divided. Get lost in present time details, things that require your attention and must be done.

Can you explained further?

Just to clarify. I am working in bangkok.

from other country.

Anyone can help by giving some nice suggestions?

I appreciate it very much

Calvin......you are from Singapore right .....usually when people get homesick, one of the best things to do is to get familiar things around you. For Euro or Uk people for example it might mean going to a brit style pub and eating some familiar food and drinking a few familair beers surrounded by 'familiar' faces. For you maybe you could try to find your familiar surroundings....maybe Chinatown !! Singapore is not far away either so you could fly home for the weekends.

I went to Singapore a few times and found an outdoors shop there ..... do yo uknow it....near raffles city......I forget the name !!?

i agree with doc,

go out, have a drink and get laid, (or a nice soapy massage, that'll sort your head out).

then go to work and earn your salary.

where is a nice place to go for one???

or where you guys hang out.. maybe I can join you guys for a drink.

The chap is home sick?

Thaimee is sick of home.

My advice Calvintan is to stay addicted to thaivisa dot com and learn how expats stay focused and sain. We are all addicted to helping out here at this nice forum.

Calvintan this is your second home. Next time you are feeling blue, think of us!

Calvin Tan,

I would suggest you to have a nice cup oh hot tea , stick to the job you've got to achieve ( if you get late, you'll feell even more depressed) , take a calendar, mark every day gone, start the final countdown) , focus on your personal motivations and find the link with your temporary stay in BKK, well in brief, turn a bitter lemon into a sweet soda drink !

Never been homesick myself, but its only 2 weeks mate, it will get better, there are plenty of Chinese in Bangkok and maybe a good rub and scrub, might do you the world of good - they definately will make you feel at home.

Calvin I think you may be looking for the sort of company you will find at Soi 4 Silom road. It is near to Patpong and has many bars with other people looking to make friends and have a beer and a chat. Many places have good music if you dance and there are other who want to dance too. You should head on down there at night on Fridays or Saturday.
