BANGKOK: -- The fisheries delegation of the European Parliament is satisfied the Thai government’s performance in trying to solve the illegal, unregulated, unreported IUU) fishing problem but has suggested that the government steps up efforts to regulate and protect foreign migrant workers illegally working in fisheries industry, said government spokesman Lt-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd on Wednesday.

The EU fisheries delegation visited Thailand during November 1-4 to follow up Thailand’s progress in addressing the IUU problem. The delegation met with representatives of Thai agencies involved in solving the IUU problem and visited the centre monitoring fishing trawlers leaving and arriving in ports and the fisheries management centre in Samut Sakhon province.

The EU delegation is satisfied and praised the government,  as reported by, wait for it, a Thai junta spokesman !

No surprises there.

These people never do spot inspections. The captains always know when they are coming. Voila!

I will await the report from the organ grinder in Brussels rather that take the word of the monkey in BKK.

The Thai spokesman was very happy with this visite

"We only had to give some empty promises and that was it"  :clap2::cheesy::cheesy:

Are they satisfied with efforts? Did they achieve a better understanding of the country's special situation? It's fascinating how all international organizations use precisely the same language to praise Thailand's ruling cadre.

"said the EU delegation praised the government for its attempt to address the IUU problem"

"but has suggested that the government steps up efforts"

Translation:

"You have failed to do anything worthwhile"

It is better then two years ago. Still much work to do.

EU lowering its standards then ,they'll be letting turkey join next

Brussels is full of organ grinders; all of them on the gravy train. Not unlike the monkeys you speak of.

More than likely wined and dined them and then sent them on their merry way. Politics 101

One could almost believe it. But then you see who claimed it.
