Prawit Wants To Build A Wall Along Border With Malaysia

BANGKOK — We may soon see a great wall along our southern border, and we will make Malaysia pay for it. Or at least a portion of it.

 

The plan to erect a Thai-Malaysian border fence was unveiled Friday by Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, who said he got the idea from a recent meeting in Laos with his Malaysian counterparts.

I know another numpty who has the same idea. He's now changed it from wall to fence. Oh, and their neighbours aren't going to pay for it. Well, why would they?

 

 

 

 

A single fence does seem like a good idea. It is just that the criminals and terrorist groups won't have to dig their tunnels anywhere near as far if they had two with a "no mans land" between.

Just the other day they were talking about building the Thai version of the Panama or Suez Canal. Wouldn't need a wall if there was a canal just above Malaysia.

Will he make Malaysia pay for it?

If they cut a canal between Thailand and Malaysia wouldn't Malaysia and Singapore float away and eventually crash in to Australia?

I thought they were going to build a big ditch that ships can use to bypass Singapore.

The Toad has come out with yet another brilliant idea. Sigh!

When he has built the Thai/Malaysia wall he could start work on the Thai/Cambodia wall and when he has finished that he could build a Thai/Myanmar wall. That will keep out the imported slaves, drugs, young prostitutes and southern terrorists. Just think of the infrastructure development boost it will give to get the economy rolling again. 

He has saved himself some money with the Thai/Laos wall as the Mekong does that job for him. Ha ha!

I beg to differ. He has brains and in a secondhand market they would get top dollar. As new and totally unused.

Yet another priceless dictum........ae they even thought of the practicalities, or even the effect this statement alone could have on Maaly/thai relations?

It's not only the fence.  It's the ploughed soil, the added mines and the electrified bits that is the (possible) deterrent.
