My son has recently started a four year course at MUIC.

There are three terms (trimester) per year with payment due within a few days of the 'Instruction begin' date of each term.

Thought it was only two terms but I do see that MUIC have 3 terms. I am just looking at the approximate cost per term/year. Planning for the daughter to go Uni so have set up a fund so that she will have the money once she starts in a few years time.

Good idea - just remember that in many cases this will also involve need for housing/food during school year if facility not close.  This expense need not be too much as student rents are cheap most places and food will be less eaten at home.

just a bit of comparatives eg. USA. My old Ivy League school is about US$50k/year tuition, lodging, food etc. will add another $30k/y. A good friend is looking at his daughter going to Univ. of Oregon (top public school) next year. Resident tuition will be about US$8k/y, add 15-20K for lodging, food etc.

That's a very broad question. They have this thing called the internet now. It's amazing! If you search the name of the university or course then you will find a price somewhere...It will probably take you less time to find out yourself using google than posting here...

Apols, had meant to post a link to the MUIC fee structure - here now:

http://www.muic.mahidol.ac.th/eng/?page_id=11629

He is in accommodation nearby and his monthly costs for this plus food, etc. are about Bt25-30k. MUIC also offer the possibility of one year of study being taken overseas. This cost will obviously be at a higher level so would have to be factored into any budget exercise if on the agenda.

25 to 30k a month? that seems rather high our son had only 15k a month , nice room and all food etc .

Indeed that is more than most families spend per month - even 15k is very high to my mind.  Accommodation should be well under 5k and food the same.  Yes there will be additional costs for special books and outings but these should not be that often or that much.

Can understand that - appears OP may not have that issue so should be a bit cheaper - then again perhaps if live in city stay at home might be possible.   We have granddaughter at Kasetsart University currently (not just farming anymore) and she lives at home (when not on one of there frequent upcountry trips).   Older granddaughter had to live at school as attended Bangkok University but not sure what parents were paying (but know they did not have to use any funds that had been previously saved for education).

Apart from the 2 term fee's at Bkk uni on top of fee's a place our son stayed at food & board a bit pocket money was 7000 bht per month,  buying the odd things he needed was extra as well.

As l post before 5 years ago.

A Forum is for talking about and asking about many things. You could apply your logic to everything then we would not need a forum for you to leave a comment on so maybe you would be at a lost as to where to place your smart answers.

He only started last month so I was probably a bit OTT with the likely costs. His current accommodation is a bit bigger than normal as he will be sharing with a friend in a few months time - pays about Bt8k/mth. He travels back to Pattaya a couple of times per month plus is taking extra tuition classes. Add in initial costs for books and other start-up costs, then your rate of about Bt15k/mth going forward may be closer to the mark.
