They were not killed by the train. They were killed by a father who was supposed to take care of them.

He might have got what he deserved, they certainly didn't.

Yet another idiot thinking i can beat the train.

Many times i have seen people here rushing to beat the trains just to save themselves a few minutes.

What a sad tragic loss of 2 innocent young lives.

My condolences to their poor mother.

Not necessarily.

Police said there was thick fog in the area on Tuesday morning. It was likely Ekaphan did not see or hear the train coming.

I live one minute from a level crossing. It is easy for motorcycles to get around the barriers. Each time a train passes, somebody on a scooter takes the risk.

Thais have a flexible attitude to safety concerns.

It was at a protected public crossing and  the train driver is required to sound the horn on approach.

The loco is equipped with  bright headlights.

Given the fact that it was reportedly foggy it was the responsibility of the motorcyclist to use caution. Sadly, it appears he didn't. Another avoidable family loss.

Three of my Thai friends was in a car accident and two of them died. The accident happened 3 o'clock in the morning after a night of drinking but the local experts and police quickly found the real reason to why they died... their amulets were copies/fakes!

seatbelt = safety farang vs. amulet = safety Thai

Good point. I would offer that complete disregard trumps (no pun intended) flexible.

I guess Thai's do not believe they can die from a 20 ton, Train car.

Sad.

I watched foolish  people in Hua Hin almost get hit by  a train.

The crossing was  not a big  one  but  the rest  of us could hear the

train  coming as its  whistle  blew  at  all the crossings.  This  guy

killed  himself and daughters, because  he was careless.  Do not  blame

the fog, or give  any excuses.  Some  people  are  just  not very  bright.

RIP  and yes  this is just another avoidable incident  that  has caused

a family tragidy

Geezer

Fair enough. But put yourself in that position. You are on a motorbike with your 2 young daughters (hah!!) and there is thick, heavy fog. You live in the area and you know exactly where the train tracks are. Personally, I would stop before the tracks, turn off the engine and listen damn carefully before wheeling the bike over the tracks.

As someone said, the train didn't kill the 2 girls. The father did.

While the father's actions were idiotic and showed a moronic disregard for his life and that of his children, to say he deserved to die is harsh.

Like road carnage and the falling sickness, seems to happen on a regular basis, and nobody really cares, I mean on a societal level, obviously at an individual level it's tragic.

He most likely did it everyday taking the kids to school, just crossing

never looking,nothing happened,2 months ago,a week ago,yesterday,

but today a train came.they better make sure they have secure crossings when/if

they ever get those fast trains into service,as its going to be carnage.

If you ride a bike across the path of a moving train you will die.  No different to him jumping off a 20 story condo with his daughters.

He got what he expected.

There is no comparison to a deliberate suicide and an accidental death, no matter the circumstances.

I seriously doubt he expected to die.

Yes I agree, the word deserved is too harsh, but he was 100% responsible for his own and daughters demise

Never said he wasn't responsible.

We all make mistakes, take chances and sometimes get it wrong. That's life, I guess.

What I don't get, though, is the following extract:

Police said there was thick fog in the area on Tuesday morning. It was likely Ekaphan did not see or hear the train coming.

Thick fog can, and usually does, affect visibility but surrly not the ability to hear...

I seems to me to be a case of "We're running late, I'll chance it!".

RIP all involved.

Are you still looking for Reds under the Bed   5555555

Why on the defensive so

I agreed with your view, DESERVED is too harsh, I simply added my view that it was nobodies fault but his own

Its as simply as that stop looking for confrontation old cock, you will be much more content with your lot

With his actions leading to killing his two daughters and himself, it would be even worse if we held him responsible and make him lose face too.

A: I have no idea what your first sentence means.

B: I replied to make clear I also thought he bears responsibility for the accident.

C: I am very content with my lot, life is good.

Why do you think that?

Do you feel his sense of face meant more to him than his children's lives?

A: In that case I withdraw the comment

B: I cannot find any poster making any kind of reference suggesting otherwise

I can only assume you are referring to my statement of him being 100% responsible in my post 18 while at the same time agreeing with you on the deserved to die suggestion being too harsh

That was and still is  my opinion of this incident, fog being present or not

On reflection, maybe it would have been better to split my two comments into two separate posts

As you have seen something that was not meant to be there, put it down to my poor grammar and phrasing of my comments

Now is that better for you  old cock

C: Good, long may it continue

You responded to my post and made a comment. I did not take offence to it. I just pointed out that I never said he was not responsible.

On another completely unrelated issue, is anyone else getting a pop up video ad every time they open this thread?

I agree the dad should have stopped and listened for the train .  But isn't it also the train driver responsibilty to blow the horn several times when there's fog and visibility is poor?

Yes! It is Zarkana by Cirque du Soleil and is bloody annoying to have to keep closing.!!!
