March 9, 20179 yr Myanmar: boat trip from Sittwe to M’Rauk-U. M’rauk-U (the name of the place can be spelled in a number of ways) is an archaeologically important town in northern Rakhine State. There are many hundreds of temples and Pagodas and many of which remain still day-to-day places of worship for the local Rakhine villagers. Many of the temples and Pagodas originate from around the year 1500. This area differs from the Bagan area as most temples are in a rural area and (more or less) in their original state To go there first I went to Sittwe. There I hired a boat with crew and in a couple of hours sailing over a number of meandering rivers and streams we reached M’Rauk-U. This boat trip was already a great experience because of the wonderful views. I made some pictures during this boat trip. After posting these I will post a set of pictures showing some of the Temples and Pagoda’s in M’Rauk-U. It could be that some of the pictures have been posted before. First impressions show the jetty of Sittwe and trip trough a canal giving access to a river.

March 11, 20179 yr Myanmar - M’Rauk-U. What follows now are some impression of Temples, pagodas and Monasteries in M’Rauk-U. As said before in M'Rauk-U are hundreds of Temples and Pagodas and many of which remain still day-to-day places of worship for the local Rakhine villagers. This area differs from the Bagan area as most temples are in a rural area and (more or less) in their original state. To start with first some impressions of the <deleted>-taung Temple. I just notice that I cannot mention the full name of the temple. A word in the name of the Temple is automatically deleted as it has a bad meaning in the English language . See for the full name the first picture.
