Fantastic! This year I will visit Angkor... for sure

Myanmar - Close to Mandalay -  to Mingun.

On my way to Mingun. The Mingun temple is a monumental uncompleted stupa with  aheight of around 50 meters. The completed stupa would have been the largest in the world at 150 meters (490 ft). Huge cracks are visible on the structure from the earthquake of 23 March 1839. The second picture gives a view on the stupa as seen from the Ayeyarwady river.

Myanmar - Close to Mandalay:  Mingun.

First thing after I saw after going ashore was a school. Apparently supported by the 'Fὂrderverein Myanmar'.

Myanmar - Close to Mandalay:  Mingun.

Up to half the height was a brick stairs. Visitors wanting to go further up had to literally climb the walls.

Myanmar – Mandalay: Zegyo Market.

Near to the Clocktower is the Zegyo Market. It is mostly a wholesale market where people from different parts of the city go to restock their store. There are many clothes stalls, longyi displays and household items.

The market is inside an abandoned 5 story building. Walking paths are very small and moving around is not always easy. The market expands outside the building. In the neighborhood that surrounds the market lots of Indian, Middle Eastern, and Chinese immigrants live in the blocks of the area. There are also a couple of mosques and Hindu temples. Text with help from google.

Myanmar – Mandalay: Mandalay Hill.

Mandalay Hill is a 240 meters hill that is located to the northeast of the city center of Mandalay in Myanmar. The city took its name from the hill.

The city and the mountain are connected seamlessly. First some impressions at the foot of the mountain just before the entrance. As not all houses are connected to a water system (sic) there are public water tap spots at some centrally located places. Here people can take a bath and do the laundry.

First some impressions at the foot of the hill.
