From midday to midnight, the rice fields will be transformed into an open-air stage and dance floor as local and international reggae musicians play the beats of the Caribbean. Pai is easily accessible by bus from Chiang Mai.

Never knew reggae was big in Thailand. Yes on the islands and around the coast you can hear the Bob Marley beats thumping but up North in Pai, Chiang Mai. Strange, maybe their is a Rastafarian Thai movement I don't know about up yonder. Anyways it's a welcome break from look tung. Yodeling country music with the doors electric organist. I dread hailing a taxi these days having to listen to that on the way home. I'd rather risk a motorcycle taxi.

Raggae music seems to just go hand in hand with weed in Thailand, always has done. Not sure if the guys are really really into the music as much as the connotation of the smoking whilst listening

Yeah, they may just as well go and stand next to a factory listening to the machines making the same noise over and over again.

Now come on possum not everyone is a George Jones fan.Some people just want to get into the groove and let that take them away, the reggae bass and drums does that for them.

Of course not, there is all types of music, rock, pop, jazz, country but from the little Reggae I have heard, you can also compare it to the sound of the machine the Thai farmers use in the rice fields di di di di di di di.
