KOH PHANGAN: -- Authorities in Koh Phangan are rushing to clear a road and restore power to Nai Parn beach after two landslides on a main road.

Following the falling of a 20 ton boulder onto the Ban Tai - Thong Nai Parn road there was another landslide yesterday.

The cascading earth brought many power poles crashing down and caused a total outage of power all day Wednesday for tourists in the bay, reports Thairath.

As the rains abated yesterday afternoon one lane of the road was opened but electrical technicians were still working to restore the service.

The island has experienced widespread flooding with local officials from poo yai ban and kamnans up struggling to cope with the crisis.

Well I was on this road a couple of months ago, they  scrapped the hill to make this road, nothing to prevent landslide, lots of boulders where maintain in position with beams...good work one more time!

Too make this clear.  on Monday there were 4 slips/power lines down on the road.  it took all day to fix.  both of the Thong Nai Pan villages have rivers instead of roads.

I have also been told that one of the big 4/5 star resorts was using a 6 wheeler truck to get their guests to the pier.

I will log this as a bad time to be there
