snoop1130
Rape of Aussie tourist in Bangkok: More details emerge as hunt for Thai rapists intensifies More details have emerged of the rape of a 21 year old Australian tourist in the early hours of Monday morning. The woman - named only as "Yaya" - was taken from Khao Sarn Road by a tuk-tuk driver to a secluded area of undergrowth behind the Watajak Building on Ratchachonanee Road. There she was raped by two Thai men. The victim was drunk and could not find her way back to her lodgings at the Yort Market area in Phra Nakorn district. So she took a tuk-tuk. She passed out and when she next came round she was at the deserted site being set upon by the driver and another man who is thought to be a friend of the original driver. They slapped her, started to strangle her, tore her clothes then both raped her before fleeing the scene. The victim staggered to the main road where a Thai woman on a motorcycle saw her and took her to Taling Chan police station. The victim was confirmed as having been raped at Sirirat Hospital. She told police that she had been drinking in Khao Sarn on Sunday night with other tourists she had just met. She then moved on to another bar and continued drinking until 3am when she was drunk and unable to walk back to where she was staying. She planned to see the sights of Bangkok before continuing her time in Thailand outside the city. She had arrived only last Friday. The chief of Region 7 of the met police has ordered Taling Chan police to get a move on in the case and find the rapists without delay. They have a good lead in the case as they believe they know where the first tuk-tuk parked near Khao San road. Not smart, but unfortunately there are certain quarters here that will read that and say she deserved it... much like the esteemed PM and his distasteful comments on pretty women not being safe in bikinis. The manic
She did not deserve it but she did not look after herself. She was stupid to get so drunk and drink herself unconscious . Quite disgraceful behaviour in fact. But stupidity does not deserve such punishment.

NCC1701A
No woman should be raped no matter what her condition. The right thing to do is to help her how ever you can. There is no justification for what happened to her. None at all.

It would not be the first alleged rape case in the world.

animalmagic
7 hours ago, Thaiwrath said: Over what ? The ALLEGED crime ? It may interest you to know that police and hospitals worldwide have a variety of tests that are carried out on women who claim to be the victim of rape. These tests can, through medical and forensic examination, confirm that violent non consensual sex has taken place. This internationally accepted procedure, when coupled with the report of the victim and statements from witnesses who observe the victim and their behaviour shortly after the rape allows the hospital to CONFIRM that a rape has taken place. You may wish to bear this in mind for your next date.

OldBag
No matter how often women are told to stay sober, to stay away from strange men, to buddy up, to dress conservatively, women are raped. Even when women say “no,” women are raped. They are raped when they don’t say “no” too. There are ways that rape can be prevented, though and they have absolutely nothing to do with a woman’s dress or her behavior. The only people who can prevent rape are men. A meme that’s going viral across social media shows a list of “Ten Rape Prevention Tips” that are sure to stop rape dead in its tracks. If every single man followed these tips, there would be no more rape. 1. Don’t put drugs in women’s drinks. 2. When you see a woman walking by herself, leave her alone. 3. If you pull over to help a woman whose car has broken down, remember not to rape her. 4. If you are in an elevator and a women gets in, don’t rape her. 5. When you encounter a woman who is asleep, the safest course of action is to not rape her. 6. Never creep into a woman’s home through an unlocked door or window, or spring out at her from between parked cars, or rape her. 7. Remember, people go to the laundry room to do their laundry. Do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room. 8. Use the Buddy System! If it is inconvenient for you to stop yourself from raping women, ask a trusted friend to accompany you at all times. 9. Carry a rape whistle. If you find that you are about to rape someone, blow the whistle until someone comes to stop you. 10. Dont forget: Honesty is the best policy. When asking a woman out on a date, don’t pretend that you are interested in her as a person; tell her straight up that you expect to be raping her later. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the woman may take it as a sign that you do not plan to rape her.

Here we have a 21 year old tourist coming to Thailand [maybe, not sure, for the 1st time] and she gets drunk. So, in her perfect Thai,, she drunkenly consents to have sex with a tuk tuk driver at 3 o'clock in the morning. Can't agree with that; sorry. It has happened now and everyone should be behind this poor women and pushing for the police to catch these 2 men (I use the word men loosely). I can never understand how anyone could cause another person such harm and live with themselves. Of course most people think this way thankfully and statistically these incidents are rare. But when it does happen society should get behind the victim and these disgusting individuals should not be permitted to live amongst normal people. Lock them up and make an example of them. There will be some pressure on Thai police to catch these men. I hope that they do not do the "scapegoat" thing. If the victim got a look at them this will be very difficult of course. I hope she recovers and she can get on with her life without too much psychological damage.
