Getting my iMac to Talk to My Wife's Android Phone

Featured Replies

This day and age, it should be pretty easy for dinosaurs like me to connect a phone to my home computer to transfer photos, music etc...

I even did a little research and found an app that I downloaded called "Android File Transfer"

Next...connect the phone (One Plus 3) via usb cable to my iMac ( version 10.12.1)..the AFT app opens all by itself...good me thinks...then it tells me that the screen on the phone is locked...unlock the screen then re-attach the device.

I am a good boy, I do as I'm told....only to get the exact same message...again...and again....and again.

So I go to the settings menu on the phone and find something that says USB tethering.....so I enable that.....still no joy.

So to all you tech savvy peeps out there.....could you please help this dinosaur for what should be a simple task as opening the fridge to retrieve a cold beer.

Cheers in advance for any advice or help.

Thanks for that....but at first glance it appears to be a full backup.

I am looking to be able to manually transfer photos, music, files between the android phone and my iMac without having the entire contents taking up space.

Cheers.

Im all apple but apple I'm pretty sure allows Dropbox, I've used it on my windows pc

You can start with that, the theory is dropbox on the wife phone dropbox on your mac, dropbox holds content in the cloud somewhere along the way using in the cloud you should be able to get it on to your mac, think of it as something like airdrop...
