Air Purifier IQAir HealthPro 250 or other purifiers

Just wondering if anyone in rural areas uses an air purifier, reason asking is I am effected by the smoke from the back burning and the charcoal processing and as I am here to stay, want to improve the quality of the air, at least in the house.

I am seriously thinking of buying the IQAir, although not cheap, around 60,000 baht, I figure would be worth the long term investment as I am feeling wheezy and a little tight in the chest from the smoke out there and know its only going to get worse as we go into the dry season.

Any input appreciated as usual gents.

I do not live in smoke country (Live in Bangkok) but find cheap Hatari air cleaners to work fine and spare parts are available and when/if they die not a great expense to replace.  A few units at less than 5k each would probably work better than one unit at 60k.

Thanks for that, I will look into it, makes sense as well, I have also read a good review by a Doctor who lives in China, who used to use the IQAir and BlueAir, but now swears by a new inexpensive Chinese brand Xiaomi.

Having the pleasure of living in Bejing several times during the winter months (when it was low-rise bicycle powered some 35+ years ago) expect anything that can clean that air to be good.  You literally could not see across the street.

IQAir is the gold star of air purifiers, they are found in hospitals and clean room environments and are very very good. But they are expensive plus replacement filter costs are outrageous, from what I have read over the years nothing else comes close.

Your on the money there chiang mai, cannot find a bad review about the product at all, and I recall borrowing one from a friend back in Sydney years ago and noticed a  huge difference in the air quality.

As for the smoke here in Issan, got to suck it in until I get one I suppose 555

I tried to buy an IQAir unit twelve years ago and the only place I could do so was direct from the US, the firm wouldn't even talk to me let alone consider shipping one to Thailand, I'm pleased to see that times have changed. I would still buy one today but before doing so I'd want to check out the price of replacement filters to make sure they weren't going to bankrupt me, plus I'd also want to ensure the unit I was buying is pukka and not a copy.

Shit yeh, as for the filters, there are 3 and it goes like this, delivered to your door:

3,700 baht 8 month replacement

6,500 baht 9 month replacement

9,750 baht 18 month replacement

As for the unit, its a measly 60,900 baht delivered to your door

Did you say bankrupt you.....lol

I can buy the lot online for $379US, but haven't looked into delivery and taxes into Thailand.

Will be waiting a little while longer as I can handle the smoke, its actually the guy up the road who is making charcoal which irritates me, he shouldn't be doing it, and has been told by some neighbours, so the Mrs is going to see the Mayor, apparently if your a farang, you have weight....lol

My interest in this topic spurred by the recent heavy dust accumulation in the house following weeks (months?) of no rain. Action taken: Bought a vacuum cleaner at BigC for 800 baht.

I would have thought the swiss made air purifier.Would not have a hope in Hell in the Bangkok with amount of petrol and diesel fumes pumping out 24/7. You only have to look the amount of people coughing up there guts on Buses and trains here to know how bad it is You would think some bright young Thai spark with have the idea of making a bullit proof Air Purifier because they breath this muck 24/7 ..............Hey there is an idea ???

Reviving this topic, just in case......

I bought two IQAir purifiers in Chiangmai given the pollution there.  But managed to stay out of the country most of the period of bad air.  Hence they are both still on their original filters - hundreds of hours to go.  I've now moved further south to the Khao Yai area - clean air down here.

If the OP or anyone else is interested in one or both of these at a good price - models 250 & and 150 -  please get in touch.

As has been already noticed, thee are no better purifiers made anywhere than these Swiss machines,
