must admit I am rather confused, has immigration just turned into a police force, it would appear they are confused too about their area of responsibility

Erm, with your long experience in Thailand, shouldn't you know that the Immigration ...Police, is integral part of the Royal Thai Police.

Makes perfect sense for immigration to look for foreigners praying on tourists instead of the police...

Not a job allowed for foreigners...

Perfectly legal activity for a Thai then, preying on tourists??? :clap2:

Sorry, but with an avatar like 'CantSpell', you're really looking for it, when you write '...foreigners praying on tourists...', LOL

What is the percentage of crime, in Thailand, perpetrated by foreigners ?  Doubtful it makes up a significant part of overall crime.  It sounds like officers are looking for a excuse to get out of the office.  What sort of special powers do immigration officers have over the RTP ?  Are they better paid and harder to bribe ?  This country has an interesting way of tripping over itself.

I'm picturing undercover officers having a few drinks (to blend into the crowd), while they scan the bars for foreign gangs who are hurting the economy of the local gangs!

Guess what happened when the US finally outlaws 2 cycle jetskis?  They went to every developing nation with a beach.  If the jetskis and swimmers are separated?  If the cook washes his hands...If the girl doesn't have HIV....If they are separate from their alcohol (the most unlikely).  Jetskis are a way for those with an inferiority to complex to make noise, air, and water pollution...at the same time, while on vacation, just so they can travel in a circle.  Boats make more sense, and they too seem to be magnets for the shorter chained.

Harleys on water. They should come with a radio so they can blast Nickleback.

I have only ridden a jet ski once in my life (in Florida) so perhaps my inferiority complex isn't superior enough but, you know what, it was pretty fun.  Same fun I have when I ride my motorcycle down a long lonely patch of road on the weekends.  Same fun I used to have dirt biking and ATV'ing in the desert.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that everyone who does has a problem.  Maybe, just maybe, you're a killjoy.  Do you sit on your porch and yell at children to stay off your lawn too?

And BTW, as someone who has been scuba diving for over 20 years, I've had zero close calls with jet skis but I've had way, way too many with boats.  Doesn't matter how well you buoy your dive spot somebody will find a way to not see a huge red doughnut supporting a five foot tall diver flag.

But I don't think we should take away boats.  People, generally, are idiots.  That's part of life.

Just like keyboards should come with intelligent things to say so you would have something worthwhile to post.

Why be sarcastic?

Wot he says is totally true.

It's not even sarcasm.  It's just angry lashing out.  Not sure why either.

I have owned nine homes and never allowed kids on the property.!!mostly a liability issue.  Also had an ATV course closed down because it was in residential zoning, and was loud as phuk, and yes most are idiots and need to be reminded to respect property rights.  Always those without, who make a big fuss about sharing things that don't belong to them.

Yadda yadda yadda.  Yeah, thanks, I feel much safer now.

Does this mean Thong Lor will be firing up their street stops, random searches, & p-testing again?   Checkpoints can be a good holiday money-maker, too...   Oh, and I guess it's time for a repost of that all-time favorite, the "you-must-always-carry-your-passport" debate.

And while you are at it how about getting rid of the packs of lady boys that insist every night  on trying to

forcibly empty my wallet & steal anything that looks like has any value to it on ones body

With all the negative publicity surrounding earlier such initiatives (pee testing, carrying original passports, random stop and search, raids and early closing etc) I'm surprised they haven't got the message by now that these sort of announcements are actually very bad for tourism.

Nothing wrong with crack downs if they actually manage to catch the bad guys.

Remember , good guys in , bad guys out.

I always wonder how much money the police uncover and or extort or except from the people that they catch doing something wrong...I wonder, I wonder

Cheers

Not everyone prefers to continually take it in the backside. Some things should never be silenced.

It's controlled by a certain Thai family, who has all of Chonburi on lock down. This is documented in cables from the US Embassy that Wikileaks released years ago.

The foreign gangs get the scraps. Though, there are plenty of scraps to be had in a crime filled cess pool like Pattaya.
