http://www.chicagotribune.com/

(still) opens for me on ToT fibre.

Many websites, even foreign cable TV channels are blocked for the slightest unwanted details/comment on the highest members of Thai society.

And Chicago Tribune has such an article currently.

The thread shows that this blocking is inconsistent.

Now you know why they work on the infamous "single internet gateway" :whistling:

Just tried using your link above to Chicago Tribune with and without VPN and works a treat on both 3BB and true!  Who knows?

The blocking of Daily Mail seems to have a new method that I never experienced.

When I click a link to it on a Google search page NOTHING visible happens.

Just a short blink on the browser headline.

That's it.

Retry with VPN, same method, opens fine.

Just tried to access DM without VPN via chrome, google, Bing and Mozilla.  All come back with the same (usual) government  block logo and script but 3 VPN's OK.

No sign of the 'no sign' when not using VPN.

Might be something specific with my FF installation( first try was with FF).

Just retried with Chrome and there it is, the "Ministry of Digital Economy and Socitety" logo. Only English text is "Block" in the title.

I've got the impression that these are cases of anticipatory obedience of some ISPs. Since the day Germany's largest tabloid, the BILD newspaper, reportet about the redicoulous outfit of a TH VIP at the Munich airport arriving on his own Boing the BILD homepage is blocked by ToT but accessable by TrueMove.

Chrome and Opera browsers have VPNs built in. No need to pay.

Using Chrome with a 'Built in VPN' is a classic oxymoron.  Google has you tracked anyway.

Opera may be different as there are various views as to which country regulates them/it.

There are many other independent VPN's which are outwith US/UK/USSR/Thai etc. boundaries and local control
