Escaping via helicopter would only lead to a chase. That's not in his best interest.

 

Aliens need a work permit and flying him out in a UFO may be seen by the authorities as providing a professional service that Thais can do themselves (with added ya ba!)

 

Clearly his best move is to tunnel out. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't already somewhere under the Arctic in a secret base. All he then needs to do is fill in the tunnel and even more of the masses will be believers after he miraculously teleports himself to continue whatever it is he is continuing.
