A Bangkok Bar Area Icon Returns, New Wave Is Back.

Featured Replies

New Wave (ex-Soi 7), a Bangkok institution to many who have been here a few years, is back in the old Bangkok Beat location in Sukhumvit Soi 7/1.  One of the few Bangkok bars that in addition to lots of talent actually had very good music with videos but if you didn't like it the DJ would  play whatever a customer wanted.

Looks good from a quick tour around in there last night.  Second floor isn't finished but a soft opening today, let's hope that it doesn't get fouled  up the same way that it did with the last incarnation.

Good luck to them.

Maybe another Hiso place in the making?  I liked Bkk Beat a lot for its simple grittiness . We will see I guess.

With all the news of recent closings, this is a spot of good news. Did they bring back the window waterfall?

It really was a great bar to just hang out.  There were a few pretty skilled pool hustlers who used to work the place.  Used to be fun watching them set-up a mark.

New Wave, hiso?  That'll be the day.

No waterfalls but hopefully it will attract the return of the reasons that made it such a good hangout.
