Notary For Power Of Attorney in CM

Featured Replies

I need to have a power of attorney document notarized for the sale of my house in the U.S
I am not able to sign the required documents for escrow in person so will be requiring a power of attorney document appointing my mother to sign on my behalf.

I have been reading online that Thailand has no notaries that are officially accepted outside of Thailand so my best bet is to go to the US consulate here in CM. I looked on the Consulate website and they have no appointments for a notary available on their online booking system in the time frame I need. (and they are not open until Tuesday to ask)

Does anyone know if a non US Consulate notary would be sufficient for this kind of document that I need? If so I could get it notarized at Star Visa here on Monday (or somewhere else anyone recommends?)

Thank you for any insight or advice.

I doubt that a notary stamp done anywhere other than at the US consulate will be accepted.

Perhaps send the consulate an email and explain you are in a urgent need of an appointment. They will often schedule one for you.

Even if accepted.. can be challenged in court.. The US situation is especially difficult.

I had to apply 3 times for a tax rebate, as they bounced back notarized docs from Thai notaries.. In the end it was a bangkok trip for the witnessing.

Thank you, I was able to get a expedited appointment with the Consulate for the notary by emailing them. I went in person to the consulate today and waited for a hour just for them to tell me to send them a email. They replied to the email within a few minutes and approved it for this Thursday.
