January 8, 20179 yr This is the Musser M48 vibraphone still in storage in USA and this is the Musser M45 vintage 1970 One-Niter smaller model I have with me here in Thailand. Edited January 8, 20179 yr by JLCrab
January 9, 20179 yr Author I think I could knock a tune out of it, the keys on it look like they are set up similar to a piano. Thing is you will not be able to play chords, as it looks like you would need some sort of stick to hit the keys with.

January 9, 20179 yr ... but here's a current 2-mallet guy -- Duke Ellington's 'In a Sentimental Mood'
January 9, 20179 yr Guitar, But saying that its sitting in the corner and I haven't picked it up in a couple of months, lol

January 9, 20179 yr Author 15 minutes ago, JLCrab said: Maybe -- but can you play like this? If I'm being honest, the answer is no, but again that guy is playing it like a lead guitar, a bass guitar is meant to play alongside the bass drum. I used to get rows from other musicians for overplaying. When I watched Country stars like George Jones and Randy Travis in concert, I always paid attention to their bass player, and at no time did any of them play like that. A good musician is judged by the way he fits in with the other members of the band he is playing with, and not his actual skill on his instrument. Without being big headed, I can sit down and play the full melody of almost any song on any key on a bass guitar, but that does not necessary make me a good musician.

I could play a deceit amount of songs but then I found motorsports, horsepower and women. Musical instruments got sold for go fast parts for motorcycle racing. Haven't played an instrument in years. I really want to learn how to play the Sax but again interests were different. However I can make a Chevy Small block sing...does that count? Edited January 9, 20179 yr by JAFO
January 9, 20179 yr Played trombone for a long time....although not for 15 years now. My love is piano really though.

However I can make a Chevy Small block sing...does that count? What is a Chevy Small block, is it a car? If it is a car, you are going to make Transam jealous. My first full professional band was a six piece showband, and they had a brass section of a sax and trumpet, and could they play? This was before my country and western days.
January 9, 20179 yr That was Kyle Brock from Austin, Texas who was written up in TalkBass.com as -- "His tone is killer, and his playing is always melodic, emotive, and perfect for the song. Even though he is usually quite restrained most of the time, he's got some incredible chops." https://www.talkbass.com/threads/kyle-brock.559270/ Barring Steve Winwood, it's hard enough to play any one instrument real well and being able to do so should make anyone happy.

January 9, 20179 yr So this is the Audio only MP3 of a video I did -- when OP says let's hear about it I thought we were going to hear it not just talk about it. Backing track I did to Steely Dan's 'Cousin Dupree'. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6412030/DUPREE_YT2.mp3 Edited January 9, 20179 yr by JLCrab
January 9, 20179 yr I play the violin, I was forced into learning it starting age seven and I hated it at the time, it was one of my life's better decisions to stay the course.
January 9, 20179 yr in bolivia 50 years ago I learned to play charango and a bolivian pal played recorder to simulate the quena (very difficult) and we played andean folk tunes...alternated with the guitar, actually had one made when I was there, beautiful instrument that I left with my pal when I left to go back to California... I also played guitar, bass and drums, not at the same time, inna garage band when I was 14...then somethin' happened when I was 23 or so and I quit playin' all together... later, I wanted to learn piano to play chopin's nocturnes...they don't sound that difficult (if ye leave out the odd glissando) and they're really nice...very beautiful in their simplicity... January 9, 20179 yr My insane and violent East European alcoholic father insisted I play piano accordian. I'm thinking of busking in Thailand with a dancing monkey on a chain if times get tough..

Ain't destroying anything -- it's about music and the guy in Post #1 "Let's hear about it" not "Let's talk about it". The OP says that he played in one of Scotland's top bands for 25 years and yet he can't post or link to a video/audio of the band playing either with or without him. Kinda like Transam's singing -- you just have to take his word for it. Edited January 9, 20179 yr by JLCrab
