passport file gone into note 4 wrong

i keep a copy of all my passport pages in all my tablets computers phone etc

and ive just tried to send a copy of my latest entry on sunday into my phones sd card

and its come out / opens like this ?

 

has anyone ever seen anything like this or have any idea if its my computer or phone

thats knackered ?

ps .. the original file in my the computer is still ok !

I would think it's either corrupted or in a format the phone can't read.


What is it?

 

Are other files on the external SD Card readable?

 

Try shutting-down then power up the phone (this sometimes clears this type of read error). You can also try pulling and reseating the external SD Card.

 

It's possible if your device received and installed an OS update that it did something to mess with how the phone and SD card communicate, and if an android OS then google plays games with how an external SD memory is used. While it  may be possible to restore with the above mentioned shutdown/powerup cycle... if all the files are corrupt then you may need to reformat the SD card and start over. 

 

Also...  Is this an android phone and do you have it set to automatically backup photo/images to your google account? They may still be readable there via web browser access  while logged into the same account:

 

photos.google.com
