13th is the big day for Songkran, this year on Thursday.

Does anyone know if the authorities are planning days off before Thursday or if there is an intention to allow the Holiday to extend over following weekend.

Ah one wise man.
I am making plans to avoid CM certainly on the 13th but would like to know which way I should jump.

A long term resident suggested 10th to 19th to me.

I will be avoiding the entire country for at least one week. As an old fart Songran is fun for a few hours, then hell on earth.

The actual Songran Observed day is Monday the 17th, Pattaya goes thru the 18th.

So it may go from 13 to 17 in CM.  I will be leaving the country during this period

Thursday April 13 to Monday 17 are the official holidays (office closure etc.).

A pretty safe guess with a margin.

12 to 17 is the minimum period to avoid.

The 12th is absolute travel madness.

Don't put a wheel on any highway/freeway.

16 and 17 the stampede goes back.

17 afternoon might be worth a try

16 will be very intense traffic as the ordinary (non government) workers have to get back for Monday 17.

I am not aware about CM specifics.

Maybe there are?
