Dual LNB (C and Ku band)

Featured Replies

Is it technically feasible to have a dual LNB set up on a C-band dish with a secondary Ku-band LNB?

Thanks

Yes. you can mount several C- or Ku-band LNBs on the same C-band dish, though the strongest 'focal point' will be for the center mounted LNB, the signal bounce and focus will not be as strong for the offset LNBs.

I have my C-band dish with Thaicom 5/6/8 (C) as primary LNB, and NSS 6/SES 8 (Ku) LNB tacked on as an offset.

(The links above are to Lyngsat, showing what programming content are available on each satellite)

IF for whatever reason you want/need to access BOTH the C- and Ku Band of the same satellite then you'll need to purchase a dedicated C/Ku combo feed LNB, since there isn't enough physical room at the dish focal point to mount two feed horns looking at the same position of satellites.

Also, in my case, since IPM has moved from NSS 6 to Thaicom 8 I don't have much need for the Ku-band LNB looking at NSS 6 any longer. Not much interest in India content in our household.

Thanks.

I'm throwing some ideas around in my head about taking a feed from the c-band lnb to the bedrooms but I still want to have the option of ku band on the True box in the living room.
