Do Thais like Malays

General question, I have a friend who ims Chinese Malay and I wondered if in general Thai girls like Malays more so or less so than other Asians. Guessing down to the individuals themselves rather than generic but he himself says he doesnt find Chinese girls attractive compared to some other nationalities so I thought I would ask the question lol

May need to find him a GF here, just read a finding GF in CM archived thread ?

Mods just realised this probably isnt the best forum for this.

The most recent survey of 12,000 Thai girls has the following results in response to your question:

Yes                            4.2%

No                              6.3%

Some                       12.7%

Who cares              76.8%

Now that is in response to the Question:  Do you like Malays?  No data is currently available on the question:  Do you like Chinese Malaysian Men? except from the katouey set who reply with a resounding yes.

what is a Chinese Malay anyway ? That would have to be a mix 50% Chinese and 50% Malay ethnic, offspring of a Chinese / Malay couple (which automatically makes him a Muslim by law).

Otherwise, you would have to say a "Chinese Malaysian".

VERY CONFUSED original question as noted by others.  The Malay are the Bumiputera [son of the soil] along with Sabah and Sarawak Dyak plus the Orang Asli. OP please research more carefully.  There is quite a few Eurasian too.  Add to that the delightful link words:  Chindian =  half Chinese and half Indian.  Chidayuh = half Chinese half Bidayuh.  If you proudly announce that you have a Malaysian g/f be prepared for first question.  It will always be the same one.    'What race?'    So OP, ask again more accurately.

Malaysia is full of racial categories - Although they would all proud to say they are Malay, I guess.

Chinese Malays are of Chinese descent, they aren't hard to spot or find in the cities, on the east coast I have come across Chinese-Malay towns.

Religion doesn't really come into it IMO, they would probably be Buddhist or Christian. Their first language would be a Chinese language or local dialect of their grandparents. They would speak Malay as a second or third language ( some even lower, taking into account mandarin / Cantonese / several local dialects )

Inter-racial marriages - wouldnt like to say, as a general rule probably not.

Im not even going to answer the posters question - sounds like a load of rubbish to me.

No pure Malaysian Chinese would EVER say he is MALAY !!!  Have you lived in Malaysia actually ? They will say they are MALAYSIANS.

Chinese Malays can only be MIXED, otherwise they would be Chinese Malaysians, but not Chinese Malays.

Agree that race is a big topic in malaysia, but this is due to the RELIGION and the different lifestyle of a Malay (who ALWAYS is a Muslim by law) and a Malaysian Chinese or Indian or Christian Kadazandusun or Iban

Am a Malaysian; to be more precise, a Chinese Malaysian, or a Malaysian Chinese, a term which is more commonly used in Malaysia to describe Malaysian citizens of Chinese ethnicity. Chinese Malays? Never heard of them.

Anyway i think Thais do not like them..

Thai ladies don't have much exposure to Malaysians and are not likely to have an opinion. In general, they don't much like Indians and East Asians (with the exception of South Koreans and Japanese). They are scared of men from Burma, Laos and Cambodia.

They will be open to someone with Chinese ancestry as many will assume he must be wealthy or come from a good family with connections.

Seems like we are wrong tho' - The word is Malaysian not Malay .. I thought a Malay person was someone who lives in Malay-sia -- seems like we were wrong. To be fair there is a lot of info to backup the fault in our terminology.

I studied with a 'Malaysian citizen of Chinese decent' I thought he was Filipino, because he had an American accent, he also said the comment was not uncommon.

I'd look at this another way.

Thailand is quite different from Malaysia and Indonesia in it's perception of it's own Chinese descent population. Much fewer shall we say issues (blood) over the centuries.

So a Malaysian of Chinese descent would likely enjoy a similar acceptance based on Chinese ethnicity.

You didn't ask about the majority of Malays that are not Chinese descent so I won't answer!

I know a Thai girl that says a Malay guy tipped her 60K for a good weekend, so yeah, I think some of em do.

But honestly, I've never known Thais to be all that impressed by any group of people that aren't Thai, with the lone exception of the Japanese. And some of the girls seem to have a thing for French guys or guys with blonde hair.
