why such traffic chaos today on Huay Kaew Road ?

Does anyone know why today there were so many restrictions in force as to where the traffic was allowed to go in Chiang Mai Saturday, 14 January and causing such chaos?

Firstly the police were barricading Huay Kaew Road and not allowing traffic to turn left near the hospital from Bunrueang Rit Road to go past Kad Sun Kaew shopping centre and cars had to turn right ono Manee  Nopparat Road   and then further down Huay  Kaew Road at the junction with Canal Road they were not allowing cars to cross that junction(again!) and they were forcing them all to turn left onto Canal Road.

A Chang Mai University as you would expect the traffic wasn’t going anywhere.

Needless to say it was gridlock although I was lucky being on a bicycle

One might assume it would be due to Children's Day activities?

anyone who goes near any mall temple tessaban office or the airport

on childrens day has to be nuts

 

i had a coffee in loi kroh this morning and saw half a dozen sonthew and tuk tuk

drivers refuse to take tourists to the airport because it was gridlocked coz of

childrens day ... its the same every year

then thats the second reason hewey kewey and around maya mall are

gridlocked today and probably tomorrow as well

 

coz the kids playgrounds in ksk built by cmu arts department usually

stay open there for weeks
