AYUTTHAYA: -- A husband and wife who fenced goods from a burglary at the house of Ayuthaya top judge have had their home confiscated by police.

Cops from the force's special money laundering division were at the Ratchaburi home of Chachawan Laowanna, 49, and Kanchana Prasongserinon, 50, yesterday in Pak Thor district.

Their Thai style home, three motor cars including a BMW 7 Series, and gold jewelry was seized with a total value of 57 million baht, reports Daily News.

Police were acting on a warrant following the arrest of the couple and a gang of four Colombian thieves last week.

Suwira Songmetta leading the seizure said that the four Colombians had admitted to police that they had delivered the proceeds from three or four burglaries to the couple.

The couple then changed the jewelry's appearance and smelted the gold, he said.

One of the victims was head of the Ayutthaya judiciary Nopparat Bunjorn. Valuables worth millions were stolen from his house in Nakorn Pathom.

Suwira said that the Colombians were paid 400,000 baht for the stolen goods that were worth 5 million baht.

about time they started seizing the guilty parties property, they usually leave the house etc for the wife and family when they are the ones that have profited from the crime. All property should be seized, land, bank accounts, houses, cars etc all should be taken away from these criminals to pay restitution, leaving with their families means they still compensated for their crime

Nice looking house.

Nice house, but they should have invested more in landscaping....and maybe watered the grass occasionally.

Hmm....A member of the judiciary with "valuables" worth millions.

One wonders......

Whew!  For a minute there I thought I was looking at the house that belongs to @Crossy.

But, no, his yard is landscaped and the grass watered occasionally.

How can they confiscate property worth 57 million baht, whilst only a few million baht in property was actually stolen. Don't they have to prove the assets were obtained through the crime.

Similar to the Chinese zero tour family currently in prison. All their assets were sold off to rival tour operators, though the family have not even been sentenced.

I hope the judge will show evidence of how much was actually stolen. Or will it be a guesstimate ???

..imagine how much wealth is in the hands of criminals....if this is only one couple...

...wow....

...just wonder why they don't confiscate more often....

Now they will be off to their other homes!!

Imagine all the wealth in the hands of all the government officials and cops here. TIT

I thought it was a hotel. Lesson to be learned never steal from a judge or the law will come down on you well like it did. Never steal from the upper crust here it is always a downer. You could end up going forth naked into the world.
