STRASBOURG (Reuters) - The European Parliament elects a new speaker on Tuesday in an unusually hotly contested vote that could strengthen eurosceptic forces at a time when the EU faces British moves to leave and questions about its future role.

LONDON (Reuters) - For the first time since World War Two, the giant illuminated billboards that have lit up London's Piccadilly Circus for over 100 years have been switched off for an extended period, as work starts to replace them.

NBT advised to go fully digital

BANGKOK, 17 January 2017 (NNT) - Prime Minister’s Office Minister Omsin Cheewapreuk has instructed the Public Relations Department (PRD) to urgently switch from analog to digital TV broadcasting. The minister also expressed his readiness to support the law to allow the NBT station to generate revenue from advertising.

OSLO (Reuters) - Some 300 U.S. Marines landed in Norway on Monday for a six-month deployment, the first time since World War Two that foreign troops have been allowed to be stationed there, in a deployment which has irked Norway's Arctic neighbour Russia.

PHUKET: -- A Surat Thani based mini-van driver was arrested in Phuket Town yesterday (Jan 16) when he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine (ya bah) and crystal meth (ya ice) which were to be delivered to a Phuket dealer.

Transport Minister presents policy on aviation enhancement

Phuket cops dress as postmen to nab B500K worth of drugs

PHUKET: -- A suspected dealer was busted with drugs worth about half a million baht by undercover police officers in Phuket Town on Sunday.

A tip from another dealer, who had surrendered himself on Saturday, led Phuket City Police officials to the post office behind Provincial Hall.

SYDNEY (Reuters) - The deep-sea search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has ended without any trace being found of the plane that vanished in 2014 with 239 people on board, the three countries involved in the search said in a statement on Tuesday.

City Hall fails to make BTS accessible 2 years after court ruling
