Can we grow strawberries in sisaket?

Featured Replies

Hey there fellas,

is it possible to grow strawbeeries in sisaket if so is there a link somewhere i can read up how to do. we only have 1 rai so we won't be a competier for any business out there. We just want to sell local. My wife says if grow off the ground on racks and some shade cloth any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers big ears

I'm a fair way away east of Khon Kaen and every man and dog are growing strawberries here at the moment.Positioned on grand stands in pots(potting bags),most in direct sunlight.

I guess temperatures are similar this time of year.

Mrs djayz is growing strawberries in Korat with a highish degree of success.

Mainly in grow bags and elevated. Fruit from plants grown in the soil are being gobbled up by numerous little creatures. She's focusing on organic, so no sprays, etc. are used.

Note to OP: The plants need to be watered lightly twice a day; once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Some shade/netting is required on really sunny days.

So yes, it's possible but a lot of care and attention is required.

PM if you want further advice and/or young plants.

I managed to get them growing in the open ground (Buriram) and from about 20 plants we were getting about three strawberries a day, no seasonal cropping. Soil borne pathogens did for them after two years, soI might try them in pots again some time. As stated, not easy and everything likes eating them aprt from children.
