KORAT:-- The head of the Pak Thong Chai police force in Korat has been removed from his position after he was too drunk to come to work.

Kampanat Thatujirangkun was the only station chief who failed to turn up to a region wide meeting held at headquarters earlier in the week.

When his bosses went to the Pak Thong Chai station to find out where he was they got a surprise - he was not there either.

He was home in bed when he should have been on duty - he was contacted and said: "I am drunk - I am not up yet".

Region 3 chief Chonsit Watanavarangkul has ordered that Kampanat be immediately removed from command. As of Friday he has been transferred to an administrative post for a period of one year.

The head of the Korat force Suphakorn Khamsingnork said that Somsakm Khongphaibun will take his place at the Pak Thong Chai station.

Now we know why crime is on the rise...

actually, in this case he is the cause of reduced crime since he couldn't commit any.

In bed and drunk but didn't mention the hookers who were in bed with him.

How do you know that? Did you supply them?

Sounds like he had a few too many the night before, and was too drunk to think of an excuse, so just owned up!

Looks like he had an inactive post already.

But it is actually heartening to see  his boss expected better of him.

Does this mean at some point in the future he gets re-instated?
