3 policemen given 8-11 months jailterm for shooting at five students

 

 

PHITSANULOKE: -- Three Phitsanuloke police officers who opened fire at a group of five university students travelling in a sedan and then assaulted some of them were found guilty of battery charges and sentenced to 8-11 months imprisonment by the Phitsanuloke provincial court on Tuesday.

 

The case took place in Muang district of Phitsanuloke province on the night of March 18 last year.

 

The five students of Rajabhat Pibulsongkhram University were travelling in a car when they were told to stop by one of the three police officers riding in a pickup truck. But when students’ car did not stop, the policemen in the car opened fire at their car and they beat up the male students.

 

The three officers were identified as Pol Sgt Subin Nutkham, Pol Lt Thanakarn Chaipipat and Pol Cpt Wutthipat Bua-urai. They were charged with attempted murder, assault and illegal detention.

In any other 'civilized' country, those cops would have been sent to much longer

jail sentences, severely disciplined, demoted or even sacked from the police force,

and the injured parties would be entitled to a hefty compensations,

 

How hard would it be to be part of those group of countries?......

Absolutely disgusting. Pathetic sentencing considering that some poor lad got dished out an 11 year sentence for supposed LM content on his own private emails. These crooked cops deserve to be doing well in excess of 5 years.

And worst of all they all got bail the same day. Thailand has the most pathetic justice system i have seen, where else in the world can a person be given bail after they have been convicted and sentenced by the courts? Feel like am in the parallel universe again

While not specifically stated, what leads you to believe they have NOT been sacked from the BIB?

So the ''men in black'' are found innocent [whether they are or not is another issue] but are sent back to gaol, however these BIB are found guilty yet are released on bail.

Impossible ezzra. I doubt if they will serve any jail time but they should have been fired. If they reach jail I am sure there will be many there ready to make em their NBF (you know what I mean)

Of course one can;t really comment about court sentencing or about anything else really as there are so many gagging laws to protect the incompetent, corrupt and criminal.  The whole system would probably collapse the moment they repeal these disgusting anit-civil rights laws.

But not in the USA!!! There they never brought the policemen to court for something like this. So much about a 'civilized' country.

One learns in Thailand that unless specifically stated publicly and in writing, it is unlikely to be the case. And even sometimes when it is publicly stated in writing, it is still not the case . . . .

Could it be that the case would never have been brought so far in the first place unless at least one of the "students" was related to someone important.....?
