webfact
Put another shrimp on the barbie - well, perhaps not this million baht one! Picture: Sanook BANGKOK: -- A Thai farm owner has sold a prawn for a million baht. And the buyer said he has got a bargain. The prawn has some fancy coloring and apparently is a very rare specimen much sought after by collectors, reported Sanook. Fancy prawn farm owner Kanokphoom Siriwat, 28, said he had been in the business for many years. Lots of his customers had offered to buy this prawn over the last few months - now he had decided to sell for a million baht. The buyer was Prathan Lianphanit, 40. He said it was worth every baht he paid for it as it was rare. He will use this male prawn for breeding. According to sanook.com it came with a female so that the lucky purchaser could start his own fancy prawn family. Emster23
".... it came with a female so that the lucky purchaser could start his own fancy prawn family". So if you do the math, actual price is 500k each, a bargain..... no mention of sin sot for the lucky female. Will relatives move in to complete the happy family? elgordo38
Lets hope the red paint does not wear off before the seller gets to spend the million. As in most items here I guess there is no refund policy. If he has more females he could artificially inseminate them and increase his odds of success if that can be done with prawns. Happy prawning. HomeinThailand
I bet it still tastes just like the ones I pay a few baht for after it has been grilled with a bit of garlic butter to dip it in.
