Ping river restaurants - 2017

I used to like Antique House 2 about ten years ago.  The music was acoustic guitars playing Thai love songs quietly in the background and food was decent.  More recently the music has been cheesy drum machine/keyboard schlock and the food's gone downhill.  I must admit I still do like that part of the river where it's darker and mellower.

 

In any case,  I'm looking for new choices that serves only Thai food.  I'm not interested in touristy places like Good View, Riverside, or River Market.  Some place with decent food and music that's not too loud .   Maybe there is no such place.

 

Any ideas are appreciated.

You could try Samsen Villa ...still in Wat Ket about 2km down from Antique House 2.  Parking is easy, extensive Thai, but also European and Japanese menu, please do not let that put you off as its provided as an option for the laregly Thai clientele .  Yery nice place to sit out and contemplate the universe.  Its a classier place.  

 

Downside is can be pricey for some, very popular with Thais (not the Goodview/Riverside crowd a bit older/more afluent), so booking ahead or giving a ring first is a good move.  Certainly a LOT fewer westerners there than Goodview/Riverside.  Its more of a place that you go for a special occasion than an occasional feed.
