Officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment visited and met with local villagers of Yamee village in Yao Yai island of Phang-Nga about their concerns and objections to a marina project and a sea-wall to protect the bank proposed to be built by Naracha company. The information obtained will be used as additional reference along with the Initial Environment Impact report conducted by Advance Environment Management Consulting Company. The project comprises a 320 x 3.5 metre wall at Klong Son Bay and dredging the channel for boat mooring facility. The villagers are concerned that the new development will affect the natural resources which they have relied on for years. They are also concerned that the public land at Klong Son will be claimed by investors. The officials admit that the local resources are still fertile. Koh Yao has been the subject of interest by many investors with four marina projects planned plus many hotels and resorts. Local villagers however keep a close watch on the development as they are concerned about the public land encroachment and environmental impacts.
