Surathani - Ranong Trip: Advice Needed

Featured Replies

Three of us are planning to fly to Surathani then travel to Ranong by land. We have seen that you can pre-book online a taxi/minivan for between 3500 and 4000 baht. Travel time stated is about 4 hours. Is it worth waiting till we arrive at Surathani airport to haggle for a better price? Or will few drivers be willing to do this trip for a lower price? And what about the time - is 4 hours realistic?

Thanks in advance for any useful info offered

The cost is very reasonable. The taxi/minivan has to spend the whole day as he has to return so wont get any other fares.

Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai in a decent cab is about 3,000 baht for the 3 hour drive.

4,000 baht is not a lot so go for it.

Actually the trip takes only 3 hours for familiar driver

2 hours to lang suan and 1 hour to ranong via phato
