The civic sector of the board of the National Health Security Office has expressed concern that the cutback in budget for free health care from 3,374.70 baht to 3,100 baht per head per year will affect the health service quality in state hospitals.

The Budget Bureau has trimmed the funding of health care service for 2017 fiscal year by 13 billion baht from 141,916 million baht to 128,533 million baht or 274 baht short of the 3,374 baht/head/year requested for the country’s 48 million people covered by the health care system.

NHSC spokesman Atthaporn Limpanyalert said Friday that the office had to adjust the health benefits for the 48 million people covered by the health care system accordingly with the budget cutback.

Well, if the big man at the top wanted to revive the support for Thaksin among the grassroots Thais , there's no way he could have done it better.

Thais know quite well the limits of the kind of healthcare they can get using the 30-baht scheme, but taking it away from them won't make the junta any more popular.

Well, maybe he can use some of the money he might find now he's gone in to arrest the criminal monk. Sorry, sorry. He's not there to arrest him. So what is he there for? Ah, details. Who cares?

If you find any cash there, put that back into the healthcare system. Also, good job. Just all round good job.

No money for healthcare...but lots for submarines and "high speed" trains ?

To avoid criticism and turmoil, the gov. may consider to give out free vouchers for a half day dive on a Chinese submarine and a day trip to a high speed train museum, to those affected by the cuts. Problems solved.

I just knew in the back of my  mind that this would be coming down the pipe some day and here it is. There were so many innuendo's and little snippets here and there by the government on the topic you just had to know it was coming. Again its sacrifice the needs of the people for items of war. What good are the war items if there is no populous to protect. Its a disgrace that the government has sunk to this level. Sacrifice the people its all boy toys and bahts and nonsense.
