A friend needs spinal disc repair surgery but can't afford cost at BPH.

Does anyone know if Sirikit Hospital offers this service?

Could anyone that has had this done please explain their experience?

They may but with spinal surgery one needs to carefully choose one's surgeon....and get several opinions to be sure surgery is really indicated.

 

There are a variety of types of surgical approaches to spinal disk problems - if indeed surgery is indicated at all, which it often is not.

 

Best advice I can give is to invest in a trip to Bangkok and consult this doctor at either Bangkok Christian Hospital or the Chulalongkhorn  Hospital after hours clinic (he is also at BNH hospital but that is more expensive, though probabluy still less than BPH). Bring all films, scans etc with him. This could potentially  save him unnecessary surgery,

If you see him at BCH arrive very early, you need to register and then it is first come, first see

One of Dr. Wicharn's many strengths is that he speaks excellent English and really talks to his patients...and listens as well.

I started a pretty complex program at BCH, I registered the day before the clinic, my wife went at 5.00am for a 13.00clinic, ( I was still number three on the list) I arrived at 12.00, this was the first contact with a colorectal surgeon, this sugeon then arranged for me to see his recommended radiologist again at BCH

 

I also discussed at this first meeting the hospital choices, and for my case was told the surgery would be equal quality at Chulalongkhorn  to Bumrungrad with the same man doing the surgery

 

I also had no waiting lists which was not the case in KhonKaen, with less sophisticated doctors and not upto date equipment

 

If you want treatment at affordable costs you have go this route, there is a shortcut, maybe go to Bumrungrad, and you may experience no wait list, but you are then in a very differently priced facility

 

I had tried to contact with same doctor, by email but got no reply, the good ones are all very busy

 

These doctors then switched me to Chulalongkhorn where I have had extensive wonderfull sophisticated  treatment at very reasonable affordable prices, I am still a patient there
