Living Will

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a digital copy (english and Thai) of a reliable living will for use in Thailand? The only links I can find are non-fuctional. Failing that a reliable solicitor who can provide one.

Here is one that has been successfully used at local hospitals:  http://www.lannacarenet.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/LCN-Advance-Directive-Word-2-11-February-2015-1.pdf

Some hospitals, such as Bangkok Hospital, have their own forms.

Advance Directives (Living Wills) in English are accepted here.

It's important to select your Health Care Representative wisely and have a serious conversation (or several) with this person about your wishes.  That person will be your advocate and must know when you go into the hospital and be prepared to present a signed original of your Directive each time you're admitted, even each time you change units within the same hospital because often the document isn't moved with you within the hospital.  In general, hospitals don't keep them on file here and don't look for them or ask about them in a time of crisis.  They simply move ahead and perform every life-prolonging measure available.  But, if the existence of an Advance Directive is brought to their attention, they do respect them.

Thanks for the information.

One question : is there a cookie cutter version of a living will that can be signed and kept? If so where would I get it?

I did my Living Will some three years ago naming my TGF as my Health Care Representative.

I used the Thai National Health templates.

I did it both in English and in Thai.

The two TNH samples below are in English and Thai - just click the language choice up right of the page.

Thanks for your responses, people, should be able to sort things out from there.

Cheers

Good OP and great positive responses. Just what TV is about.
Nancy as usual gives great 'local advice' which will be sadly missed when she moves out of Thailand.
