Has TV become overly censored ?

I have been a member of TV for 13 years now and when I first joined used to be quite active on it as it provided a  vehicle for open discussion. However in recent years I have logged on less and less because judging on some of the posts there is now an awful lot of trolling and other such balderdash.  Of course recently I find that the acceleration of advertisements  is becoming a bit annoying.  Whilst appreciating that that there is a commercial aspect now, I am sure the original intent of TV was to be a forum, not a sales gimmick selling advertising space.  My worry is that with the association of the Nation media group things will get only worse and rather be a forum it will predominately be an advertising medium..

How many other posters on TV think my points echo their own concerns ?

Also judging on feedback that  I can read from other Thai forums there also appears to have been a massive increase in forum posting censorship of TV. Whilst as I say I do not log on to TV too much now, I am not sure whether there is any validity or not with respect to that issue. Again what are other posters experiences/views/comments on that aspect ?

Can we please refrain from any trolling, bitching etc etc and just have honest to goodness feedback of other posters feelings and feedback.

By way of explanation since the coup there has been an increase in sensitivity over criticism/commentary on the current government, also an increase in criminal (not civil) cases of defamation.

That is why we have had to amend the Forum Rules somewhat and also posted this topic in the News Forum.

Having said that, let's not let this topic descend into criticism or discussion of moderation please.

The feedback could be very useful.

I don't know what other forums you have been looking at but there are at least two that I won't name but they have nothing better to do than slag off at thaivisa. One in particular is largely made up of disgruntled TV members who have been banned for various reasons.

Also read the post above by Jai Dee, it says a lot about the situation.

Ron19.  Yes already read the post from Jai Dee and the forum's amended rules.  I'm sure that there are disgruntled posters everywhere.  However trying to see the "wood from the trees" here, then surely in Thailand in the current climate, I would have thought it reasonable that it is necessary for all forums to follow the same set of forum rules to protect the forum, and possibly themselves, from further action. Or is that being somewhat presumptuous ?

Only wish that your 2nd last paragraph was the norm. It would certainly make our life much easier with a lot less to worry about.

Nearly 15 years for me.

Now thousands of members (100K plus?) and it is impossible to post on any subject without yet another troll or whatever jumping straight in.

The mods must spend their time removing hundreds of posts per day from ordinary threads let alone the more sensitive.

On the the ordinary threads getting to the point where it is no longer worth posting-sad! 1508537.GIF

I think your 2 posts in this thread are prime examples of what I was referring to?

Those who seek to legitimize homophobia, racism, islamophobia, sexism, mysogyny, and xenophobia, and who choose to subject readers to crude, vulgar, and plain weird posts often do so under the banner of exercising the right to be "politically incorrect."

Mods, please keep up your good work.
