March 26, 20178 yr ive heard that muslim guys can have 4 ladies in thailand and that its quite normal. is this really true? is this even legal?
March 27, 20178 yr The religion allows for up to 4 wives provided the husband can support them all equally and well and the other wives all consent. But Thai law does not allow marriage to more than one woman at a time, and bigamy is a criminal offense here. Even in predominately Muslim countries where it is legal, polygamy is usually not the norm. Among other things, very expensive as those tend to be countries where wives usually do nto work and husband is expected to be the sole provider.

March 27, 20178 yr What exactly do you mean ' Have 4 ladies ' ? Those poor Muslims. You can go to Pattaya and ' have ' four 'ladies' in an afternoon and you don't need to marry any of them.....but of course if you do you will end up building them a house and another for their parents. Still, a lot cheaper than having to feed 4 wife's until you die.

April 2, 20178 yr In Thailand, we call them "mia noi". But technically the law only recognizes your main wife.

Their not poor' a so called refugee (Stated by a real estate agent ) was willing to pay above listed weekly rent & 6 mths in advance in Auss
April 23, 20178 yr What Thai Muslim do is that they marry official and the other 3 by nikka in a local mosque. Southern Thailand Mosques gives you a letter and it is not logged with any government as the Thai government make Buddhism the official language of Thailand. Its all very much tolerated. Most of the Thai Muslim's that marry up to 4 wife's are loaded with money so no conflict. It works also most of time well out as they still look after their first wife etc and the children's and don't make a runner.

(since there are roughly the same number of male and female babies born). Polygamy is just another HISO thing.
