Best position to place a Dashcam in your car ?

Featured Replies

I have a quality car dashcam that takes a very good image but I have a problem finding the best place to have it in the car.

The problem is a reflection of the dashboard showing in sunny conditions although not a problem in shady conditions which

includes passing through the shade provided by a large tree.

I have tried a number of positions but can't find one that eliminates the reflection. Would appreciate any advice on where to

install it to get rid of the reflection if there is one.

Superglue a bit of plastic on it's base heading towards the screen to stop reflections from below......

Or you could try putting one of those dash covers on.

My one is mounted just behind the mirror, also have a dash cover. Never had any problem reflection wise.

Question do you have a screen tint??? that can cause a reflection.

There is a tinted band at the top but the rest of the windscreen doesn't appear to be tinted although all the other windows are.

At present I have it in the same place as yours which puts it just under the tinted band in an early model civic.

Your suggestion of a dash cover makes sense. I'll try using a towel temporarily and if that works will go for the real thing.

Will try Ace of Pop's suggestion as well.

I have one of those furry dash covers, stops reflection nicely. I have a dual dashcam type that looks forward also backwards, I can also swivel the cameras to look sideways but still no reflection in any position

Sounds like the best option, I'll give that a go.

It's a Carway  F30 here is the Lazada link for them, not sure which one I have or if they are all the same or what.  I paid around B2000 for it some time back.

One lens is a slight telephoto and looks back through the rear window the other one looks forward or wherever you want it to point, the screen can be split to show both views or just one.
