PHUKET:-- Chalong Police today again refused the identify at which resort in Rawai two Myanmar nationals were killed by an electric shock from a shower water-heater in a guestroom bathroom.

Capt Somkiet Sarasit of the Chalong Police told The Phuket News today (Mar 29), “The resort has had every electric shower in guestrooms checked and they are safe.

“The exact cause of the electric shocks was a broken electrical wire inside the wall,” he added.

Myanmar national Khin Aye New, 31, was found dead on the floor of a guestroom bathroom at the resort last Thursday night (Mar 23).

Her hand, which showed burn marks, was still holding the shower head of an electric water heater mounted to the wall. Her body was lying in water that covered the shower room floor.

Her boyfriend, Min Thaik Non, 30, who worked at the resort, lay dead beside her. He also suffered an apparent electrical shock as he tried to help her.

Gives the impression someone with influence might own the place ! just saying

“The exact cause of the electric shocks was a broken electrical wire inside the wall,” he added.

How can for heaven sake 'n electrical wire brake inside the wall?????????? The wire was already too short and another cable was connected in the Thai way: with tape!

If there was a broken wire inside the wall how could power be supplied to the water heater.

The whole thing reeks of a cover up for something.

Seems the Earth Leakage device was also 'broken'.    Oops, no earthing is there?

Why is the Thai electrical set-up so pathetic? Equipment such as showers, washing machines etc, all state 'must be correctly earthed'.    Not possible in 2-wire buildings and plastic plumbing.

Is there anyone wondering why this case is "covered"?

In Phuket?

Really?

So the unnamed resort can assure its guests that there are no broken bits in any of the showers in any of the other rooms? But no one can make the decision whether or not to put trust in their 'safety inspection' because no one knows which resort is the (ir)responsible one. TiT.

Since the resort is not identified and because the "broken wire inside a wall" is an unbelievable cause of electrocution, why take the risk of potentially choosing the resort where the deaths occurred?

There are few resorts on that Soi namely:

Paradise Zum Resort, Big A Resort, Rawai Garden Bungalows.

Plenty of other resorts at Rawai Beach on other sois.

The report says  B270,000 baht per family was paid for the deaths which is about USD$7,700. Wow that is a low cost !

Should be at least USD$100,000. Maybe the total payment was higher but someone else got a payment?

Maybe Somchai drilled into the cable when installing the shower heater?

These incidents are two a penny here, separate earth for the shower is the only way forward.

Not surprised it doesn't happen more frequent in Thailand. Many cheap water heater are dangerous. It happens in other countries too but not so frequent, in Thailand it seems more frequent. I believe the combination of cheap water heater and bad wiring is the cause of frequent death by electric shock in Thailand. Even hair dryer killed many people in Thailand. The famous philosopher "Thomas Morton" died in Bangkok from faulty hair dryer back in 1980s .

Reading helps. Both were Myanmar citizens.

It's not really hard to work out which resort has these distinctive windows

I am not your old chap and it is nowhere  in the report that it was a Thai ( highly unlikely on Phuket) who did the installation Dude. Back to your barstool

Do you really think the resort has that kind of money ? In Thailand you will never get a lot of compensation fo loss of life, local insurance pays out 2-300k baht maximum .

cost too much to run a wire (single green) off the tab on the shower unit out through the wall and down to ground via a piece of metal knocked into the ground about 18 inches

Much better to kill people. life here aint worth a Sh>>
