Wiggy
Hi, I've just booked my Civic RS in for it's first service (seven months old) on Saturday. I told them that there's a slight problem with the A/C, in that it doesn't work 100% of the time and gets very warm in the car on some occasions. They said that if they needed to check the A/C on top of the service then I wouldn't get the car back until Tuesday! Three days seems an excessive amount of time for this. Has anybody else experienced this type of thing? I guess getting a replacement car for three days would be wishful thinking. Thanks in advance. Perhaps they sub-contract their A/C work out to someone else, but it's a big BKK dealership so I find that surprising.

Yes, I may well do that. I figured taking it to where I bought would be logical, but TIT. Lol.
shady86
Try bargain with them to loan you a car for 3 days? Based on my experience, they can do the servicing one day as long as parts are available. You might want to check if parts availability is the one holding the service time.

A first service & A/c check, come on the Honda dealer is a joke l would report them to Honda's head office in Bkk.
canthai55
Just maybe ... drop off car Saturday. Do the service, check the AC. Work Sunday ? If not, get parts Monday. repair and return Tuesday. No need to immediately P and M about poor service. Only person who knows is the OP, and this info was not supplied.

Wiggy
It hasn't gone in yet. It's due this Saturday, and therefore no diagnosis yet so I'm wondering why the three days. If I'm not happy with answers to questions Saturday then I'll take it somewhere else. They are saying it'll take three days to diagnose which I find weird. They are closed on Sundays. Saturday - drop off 9:30am, Monday - all day, Tuesday - pick up 4pm. I make that three days. Or, four days without a car, if you include Sunday. cooked
We had the same problem with Nissan. After doing 7 services (three years) I realised that they hadn't done an A/C check, made a remark about the tyres, or indeed anything else that isn't actually on the service check list. So next service, I asked them to check the A/C as it wasn't working too well (you don't notice initially) and we were kept waiting for two hours. Then we get: "finished tomorrow, will cost ฿2000" , followed by "three days, we need a specialist". The sil came to get us, when we went back with him in the evening to retrieve forgotten shopping, we were told it had been fixed, no cost. Regular service dealerships seem to go into a panic when you ask for something out of routine, the B-Kwik alternative seems to be the way to go. Wiggy
Update: I emailed Honda yesterday. They replied quickly asking for more details which I provided. They wrote back saying someone would call me. Later, an English speaking service guy called me from the dealership. Very apologetic he asked me to bring the car in and said they should be able to turn it around in a day. The car is with them now and they'll call me at noon with an update. Excellent, but if they say it just needed topping up you must question that as a 100% OK system does not lose gas in such a short time..

Remember it is a pressurised system, if you have a "real" leak it will de-pressurise in a very short time, your system does not have a "real" leak, may have a minute leak IF it is low on gas.. Thanks again. More than likely low on gas (maybe an oversight at the factory?) It tends to stop working when in heavy/slow traffic. If I rev the engine for a bit it gets cold again. Not a massive problem but annoying nonetheless.

Hmmm, does the A/C "rad" have it's own electric fan....?

I did look up the symptoms online yesterday and that was one of the suggestions - that the fan might be faulty (if it has one).
