Cold weather benefits Milk-cow Farmers in Sakon Nakhon

Cold weather is advantageous to milk-cow farmers in Sakon Nakhon Province as milk-cow strains are from countries in the Northern Hemisphere. The milk-cows produce more milk in winter than in summer and rainy season, the periods when the cows are most susceptible to breast inflammatory.

Theera Buatharat (ธีระ บัวทะราช), a milk-cow farmer in the province, revealed that during the previous two months, his cows had fallen sick due to the rapid change of weather conditions. During this winter, each of them can produce 20 kilograms of milk, compared to 15 kilograms in summer and rainy season. However, he said most cow-milk farms in the province are still below standard. He wants the government to increase a buying price of raw milk which is now 11 baht per kilogram.

Meanwhile, residents in 18 districts in Sakon Nakhon have been suffering from cold weather. They have respiratory infections and are in need of winter clothes.

Yea cold season is great for the cows, it's a bit of a catch 22 situation for most people thou, as although it's nice and cool there is usually a lack of decent fodder, rainy season is mastitis season but you've got loads of grass, hot season is well.....just hot really
