Hello all

I am trying to find somewhere to buy a spade like in the photo, I have tried the DIY super stores here in Udon Thani but no joy they do not stock it.

Does anyone know where I can get this item in Thailand.

I bought one once, many years ago from a local hardware store. I'd wondered, quite possibly as you are doing now, 'Why so scarce'? There's a jolly good reason the locals use those long pointy swing up and over hoes to penetrate the baked earth here 

I have seen similar at Global house. Also genuine gravel rakes.

you will get those shovels from the local hardware shop.  All types of garden tools.

Indeed the shape as shown in the OP is rare.

I would also look around the small hardware shops at the markets.

They will usually have them without handle attached.

Has to be purchased separately.

 

"Do Home" store shows two such on their website.

 

I bought a similar shovel and hoe from a truck driving down the road not far from Udon.

In the right place at the right time.

I was in Udon Thani Global (the old one sort of across from Home Pro) just a few days ago and they have in their "garden" section.

The gardening tools I bought off the truck were damn heavy duty, I suspect they were hand forged. I took a hoe back to Australia as it was far stronger than what we get there.
