BANGKOK: -- Expressing concern over the early arrival of rainy season, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has instructed officials concerned to accelerate repairs of broken weirs and water catchment areas and encouraged the public to help in this effort.

He noted that although much has been done by the government regarding water management, repairs of broken water catchment areas and weirs which are now the responsibility of local administrative bodies are yet to be done and need to be accelerated to cope with the premature arrival of rainy season.

Isn't it a big step forward already when he realizes the existence of a rainy (flood) season at all?

He can stand on the top a mountain and use Section 44 of the constitution to order the rain to fall where and when it is supposed to.

Someone please point him in the direction of a mountain. Please wear a suit Mr. Prayuth your PM your no longer in the army.

PM concerned with early arrival of rainy season

So why on earth did he let it happen?

Never mind - he can always slap an Article 44 rest(rain)ing order on it.

Why ever notice it.  It did not ever have any effect on the life of General officers on the army.  In civvy street it is a big deal.  Three years.  He is beginning to get with the program.  With any luck this exact reading of the riot/flood act might be given 4 or 5 months earlier next year.  However please note, to be fair, he says central government has done most of its dry season maintenance already and it is only the local ampurs that are dragging their heels.

By my account I think it is fine to let the levees overflow That way when it starts to flood you can use the NEWS SUBs for underwater surveillance

needed to shore up the levees ( well that is about as much action as those subs should get )

Makes sense RIGHT ?:sorry:

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect

I will give it a go.

Straight from the horses mouth, family up north,60 years old never seen her village underwater.

Until yesterday not from over flowing river but from the rain, floodwater from the river is feared to be next.

This is near Sukhotai.
